In December 2025, Dr. Gerchow completed her term as elected Chair of Division I of the California Psychological Association—CPA’s largest Division and the statewide home for clinical and professional practice.
Connection
Throughout the year, Dr. Gerchow and the Board emphasized community-building, with particular attention to strengthening engagement with graduate students. Key highlights included:
- CPA Lobby Day, where members advocated for psychological and community needs, accompanied by a Division I–organized graduate student lunch meet-up.
- Two Division I Board Retreats, which offered essential space for connection, honest dialogue, and strategic planning about the Division’s future.
- Expanded mentoring and networking, including an Early Career Panel that brought together clinicians from various regions of California and across multiple clinical specialties.
High-Impact Trainings
Division I hosted and delivered trainings to support psychologists in evidence-based and emerging areas of practice. Highlights included:
- Mindfulness, awareness, and consciousness, featuring Dr. Christine Runyan
- Helping clients copd amid crisis, especially in the aftermath of the wildfires, presented by Dr. Diane Gehart
- Private Practice Hot Spots, a two-part, highly practical series with attorney and psychologist, Dr. Adam Alban
A Thoughtful and Committed Board
Throughout the year, Dr. Gerchow worked alongside a committed Board and CPA staff team. The Board brought flexibility, humor, resilience, and honesty to a year marked by technology challenges, shifting program needs, and important conversations about the future of the Division’s Sections.
